The one and only 1953 Marilyn Monroe Playboy #1. Cover very dirty and spine had several creases and dings as well as large crease at the lower right corner of the book.

Batman page was severely creased and it took a long time to unfold those areas. Very careful manipulation with jewelry tweezers and then ironing out each crease. Lots of tears as well but client did not want conservation. Page was also soiled so a lot of dry cleaning necessary along margins and some pencil overlay. Love Golden Age candidates for pressing. They are heavy and solid books. Nice to bring it back to its true form.

Journey Into Mystery #83

Previously restored book when it came to me. First thing I noticed was the very faded cover which is unfortunate as there is really nothing I can do about that. It was a bad job so it was screaming to be healed! Tried to undo the resto as best as possible w/o losing any pieces. Needed to remove some old color touch and piece fills that did not match up. Full restoration. Cleaning, humidification, pressing, spine rebuilding, pieces added and color touch, interior and exterior. CGC graded it a 7.0 MP and if it weren't for the very faded cover, I do think it would have graded higher.

This book was nice to begin with but with some TLC in cleaning and pressing, all the defects disappear.
CGC grade: 5.5
