Showcase 4
Another desirable Silver Age book.  2 versions.  The first book was previously graded 4.5.  Cover needed a cleaning (front and back) and pressing.  Grease pencil marking in "M" was left alone since it could not be entirely removed using erasures.  CGC resubmission produced a 6.0 grade.  The second book did have a grease pencil that was removable and back cover was severely grimed.  Tape was left on front cover since removal of it would have deemed the book "restored."  This is unfortunate since the tape will only deteriorate the paper quality and discolor the paper underneath.

Golden Age Pressing
Here are some great books from the late 30's and 40's.  Severe spine rolls but decent, malleable pages.  Carefull repeated pressings to keep book from reverting back to crooked shape.

Action 9 Pressing
This customer insisted I restore this book but he had not been informed of "just pressing" an already beautiful book to retain its optimal value.  The water stain was a significant defect but it did not make sense to "wash and light bleach" the staining since the book would be deemed as restored. Clearly this book was a gem from the Golden Age of Action Comics. Severe crinkle and warp at lower right edge of the book.  After a series of very careful pressings, book looked like new again and the CGC grade was the exclamation point!  The raking light photos give you a better sense of the damage to the corner and result of expert pressing.

Fantastic Four #1
This book was previously restored and amateur at best.  Ball point pen and markers were used for color touch.  There was some residual glue along the spine.  Large stamp marking across the top of the front cover.
